Fly Fishing Checklist

Before you go on a fly fishing trip, there are a few things you need to check to make sure that everything is in the right place and functioning correctly. You will also need to make sure you have everything you need, ready for use on the trip. Any last minute checks before departing is helpful to locate any missing items, so it is important to check again before leaving.

First of all, make sure that the waders and floats have no leaks. If there is, try to repair the leak or else, purchase new ones. It is also advisable to wear fleeces when you are fly fishing, as you will be wading in the snowmelt. Then, you will have to replace your line, especially if the line is damaged. This is important to make sure that your line works properly when you are fly fishing.

Don’t forget to clean your reel. Add lubrication to make sure that your reel spins perfectly. Your rod should not have any cracks or bends. Otherwise, you might lose a big catch! Replace any broken rods before you leave. Check through your toolbox to ensure that you have all the important equipment for fly fishing. Any missing items should be replaced immediately.
